Temporal
Temporal is a workflow orchestration platform designed to keep long-running processes reliable even when the code, the machines or the network fail. Work is written as ordinary functions, and the platform records every step in an event history so it can resume after a crash, retry with backoff, wait minutes or months for a signal, and pick up exactly where it left off.
It is a natural choice for order processing, payment reconciliation, media pipelines, onboarding and any multi-step job where a plain queue and script would lose state.
Running the server yourself means the workflow history and payloads stay in your own storage, you are not billed per workflow execution, and the persistence layer is a database you can back up and restore like any other.
