Memcached
Memcached is a distributed in-memory object cache that keeps key/value pairs in RAM and evicts them with a least-recently-used policy, so nothing is expected to survive a restart. It speaks a very small command set over TCP, which keeps both the server and the network chatter simple, and it scales horizontally by adding more nodes to the client list.
Teams place it in front of relational databases to cache expensive queries, rendered pages, and session data, often alongside a CDN for static assets.
Running it yourself through The service can hot cache and session data on your own network, and there is no metered request pricing to plan around.
