Lyrion Music Server

Lyrion Music Server is a music server built for playing a local audio library to network players and clients on demand. It indexes your collection, browses it by album, artist, genre and playlist, and can be driven from a web interface or from compatible Squeezebox hardware, with transcoding and bitrate options for different listeners.

Households use it as the backend for a multi-room audio setup, and enthusiasts use it to keep a large local library searchable without handing streaming rights to a third party.

Hosting it yourself means the audio and the listening data stay in the house, there is no per-stream subscription to keep paying, and the library with its database can be copied and restored like any other file.
